- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices of ham
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
- ½ cup butter (for sauce)
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour (for sauce)
- 2 cups milk (for sauce)
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (for sauce)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on each chicken breast, then roll them up and secure with toothpicks.
- Season the flour with salt and pepper, then coat each chicken roll in flour, dip into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the chicken rolls until golden brown on all sides.
- Transfer the chicken to a baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
- For the sauce, melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour, and cook for 2 minutes. Gradually add milk while whisking and bring to a simmer. Stir in Swiss cheese and season with salt and pepper until smooth.
- Serve the chicken with the cheese sauce poured over it.
Notes
For added flavor, use fresh ingredients and consider adding garlic powder to the flour. Let the chicken rest after baking for juiciness.
