  • 1 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 0.5 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tablespoons water)
  • 1 tsp ginger (grated)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp orange zest (from 1 orange)
  • 1 tbsp green onions (sliced, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Coat the chicken pieces in the flour mixture, ensuring they are covered evenly.
  3. Carefully place the coated chicken pieces in the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
  4. Remove the chicken and let it drain on paper towels.
  5. In a separate saucepan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, ginger, garlic, and orange zest. Heat until the sugar dissolves.
  6. Mix cornstarch with water, then add to the sauce to thicken. Simmer until desired consistency.
  7. Toss the fried chicken pieces in the orange sauce until well-coated. Serve hot, garnished with green onions.

Use freshly squeezed orange juice for the best flavor. Avoid overcrowding the skillet when frying for crispy results.
