Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups sugar

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two cake pans.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the butter and egg mixture, starting and ending with flour.
  7. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  8. Divide the batter between the pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Use room temperature ingredients for the best results. Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting or decorating.
